The on trend word this year is wellness. It is everywhere but what is your idea of wellness? What is it all about? Is it about being healthy? Is it about getting back to nature? What can we do to be truly well with the extra ‘ness’ we need? Wellness can be defined as ‘the state of being in good health, especially as a pursued goal’.
Wellness addresses the whole body encompassing the balance of your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It is not an end to be achieved, rather it is a lifestyle we should adopt. If we want to function successfully in the world we all need to be well right?. Being truly well not only effects your emotions but if we think about it it also effects the emotions of those around you.
We have all heard of the terrible ‘twos’ …but what about your terrible ‘too’s’? – the…too hard, too busy, too tired, too much hassle. You create your wellness by what you choose to do. So come on let’s choose….

There is nothing like a long hot shower to unwind and wash away the day’s pressures, so why not create an relaxing retreat atmosphere in your bathroom that infuses wellness moments. Light some candles, embrace the softening glow from the candlelight. Use some essential oils with calming, stimulating vapours to help unwind and create simple moments of pure relaxation.
Take the time to use an invigorating body scrub to detox the skin and give it new life. This will also help the skin absorb moisturising body lotions and oils better, giving your skin a new vibrancy after the shower. Why not select body products with natural ingredients that will be kinder to your skin, don’t forget when you are finished your mini spa treatments, wrap yourself in a warm luxury towel or robe to feel completely pampered. Little things we do to make ourselves feel better will go a long way to add to our wellness journey. So take the time to pamper you and create a wellness experience for the senses.
Have you ever thought of doing, or if you are doing a little revamp to your bathroom? Treat your bathroom as sacred as every other room in your house. Research has found that the latest trend is designing your bathroom around the show stopping centre piece…the shower. For wellness also have a think about the textures we use to revitalise this space. Think about the materials you can use on the walls or floor, exquisite tiles or warm rustic colours can really change the whole feeling and ambience of the room. Natural materials like wood can give the feeling of bringing the outdoors inside, creating a haven of calm. Be at one with nature.
To further embrace the wellness space introduce beautiful calming accessories. Add some flowers or plants, beautiful bottles of luxurious shower gels or creams and scented candles. Include some atmospheric lighting to give a calming glow. Don’t forget big cosy towels for that softer touch.
