MERLYN Wins Red Dot Design Award
MERLYN – International RED Dot Design Winners
MERLYN are delighted to announce they have been awarded the design industry’s Oscar, the prestigious Red Dot award. With over 6,300 entries from 59 countries, the winners of the prestigious Red Dot are justifiably proud of the accolade. All the product entries were tested and assessed individually (in the course of an evaluation process spanning several days) and the Arysto Eight Infold Door by Merlyn Showering was announced as one of the winning products on the 9th April, 2018.
The judging panel of 40 members assessed the products individually based on the strict judging criteria, which include level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability. These elements provide a frame of reference which the judges then complement with their own expertise.
The Winning Arysto Eight Infold Door
Merlyn Showering, the UK and Ireland’s number one Shower Enclosure Company showcased a innovative design with its newly launched Arysto Eight Infold Door enclosure. Technical advances have been key to achieving the virtually frameless enclosure; with each component precision engineered to reduce size and maximise performance, eliminating the contradiction between small spaces and heavy frames. An inward opening door provides an ingenious space saving solution. With its ultra-smooth opening action, the enclosure opens and closes effortlessly for a truly quality product.
Barry Hoyne, Commercial Director at Merlyn Showering says “After months of consultation, research, planning and design we have been able to unveil the Arysto Eight at recent industry events. Winning the prestigious Red Dot Award has highlighted the time, resources, and expertise that have been invested in our new collection by our designers and product team, in collaboration with Dolmen design. As number one we need to be leading the market – so continuing to develop new products and innovation that keep us in that position is a must for us”.
About the Red Dot Design Award
In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Ever since, the sought-after Red Dot award has been the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. Further information available at www.red-dot.de.
